You could be forgiven for thinking this was The Somme in WW1, however this is a trench near Bakhmut, Ukraine.
Temperatures are rapidly dropping and soon the water will turn to ice. Incredibly living on 20cm of ice is a vast improvement on their current conditions.
How is that possible?
