Who Can Buy an Airsoft Gun in the UK
You must be aged 18 or over to buy any imitation firearm, including a two-tone airsoft gun or realistic imitation firearm.
Realistic Imitation Firearms (RIFs)
A realistic imitation firearm is an imitation firearm that looks virtually indistinguishable from a modern real firearm.
Combat Cellar can only sell a RIF when we are satisfied that the purchase is connected with a permitted purpose under the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006.
For airsoft players, the most common permitted purpose is taking part in insured airsoft skirmishing. We may ask for evidence such as:
• Valid UKARA registration
• Membership of an insured airsoft site
• Confirmation from an insured airsoft site
• Other suitable evidence demonstrating a permitted purpose
UKARA registration is a commonly used verification method, but it is not a licence and is not the only possible form of evidence.
Other permitted purposes may include:
• Historical re-enactment
• Film or television production
• Theatre productions and rehearsals
• Museums and galleries
• Certain Crown service activities
We reserve the right to request further evidence or refuse a sale if we cannot verify that a permitted purpose applies.
Two-Tone Airsoft Guns
If you do not have suitable evidence for purchasing a RIF, you may still purchase a non-realistic imitation firearm provided you are aged 18 or over.
These are commonly called two-tone airsoft guns. They are principally coloured in an approved bright colour, such as bright blue, green, red, orange, yellow, pink or purple, or are transparent.
Age Verification
We may request photographic identification to confirm that you are aged 18 or over before completing an order.
Using and Transporting Airsoft Guns
Never display or carry an airsoft gun in public without lawful authority or a reasonable excuse. Transport it securely, covered and out of sight. Airsoft guns should only be used in a safe and suitable location with the landowner’s permission.
